Explore the tradition of Ngredag, Peliatan traditional village
The Ngredag tradition, also known as Ngunya Nyatur Desa, is part of a ritual ceremony that is routinely held every year by Peliatan Village. The purpose of holding this tradition is to neutralize negative things or ward off negative things. Sesuhunan Nguya Nyatur Desa is intended to ask for welfare, and safety to nature and its contents.

The Ngredag tradition, also known as Ngunya Nyatur Desa, is part of a ritual ceremony that is routinely held every year by Peliatan Village, according to the Bendesa Adat Peliatan, Mr. I Ketut Sandi. In this ritual, residents take to the streets carrying dozens of barongs and Pratima.
"The purpose of holding this tradition is to neutralize negative things or ward off negative things. Sesuhunan Nguya Nyatur Desa is intended to ask for welfare, and safety to nature and its contents. Because we Peliatan villagers understand that the change from the dry season to the rainy season that will fall on the Sixth Sasih is believed to be full of negative things that will bring bad things if not anticipated, "he said.
According to the Balinese calendar, the sixth month is believed to be very sacred.Ā All kinds of diseases and pests are endemic. It is characterized by the presence of heavy rains. Including flies and plant pests are breeding.
Therefore, people are reminded to be vigilant and always pay attention to nature. Because factually, the sixth sasih is a transitional season, a transition from the long dry season to the rainy season.
The procession of the ngredag tradition or the Nguya Catur Desa ritual ceremony is, first for the community/engebon/banjar/pura that nyungsung the Ida Bhatara ministry, the Barong ministry, rangda and so on that is lowered or paraded around the village, but with the first ceremony, namely the lowering ceremony in each temple.
The second procession is Ida Bhatara accompanied to the dalem temple. The purpose of the accompaniment to the dalem temple is so that Ida sesuunan pelawatan barong can get panugrahan from Ida Bhatara dalem. And he is the one who will later neutralize in the Peliatan Village area to ward off negative things.
Therefore, this ceremony is carried out around the village, starting from the East. In the eastern direction is held Upcara yagara called pecaruan. Pecaruan that has been commonly implemented is pecaruan white chicken.
After finishing at the eastern end of the village, it continues in the southern village, this is carried out at the end of the village, namely with the red chicken pecaruan ceremony. The process is the same as at the east end.
After the process at the south end, it is continued with the west end with the same process but in a slightly different way, namely the white chicken caru ceremony. After the process is complete, it continues at the north end. But with the difference of black chicken ceremony.
Then continued at the village catus pata, in the middle of the village carried out caru ayam maca, five plus a small pig sableh that has not been sliced used for the procession. Then, Nguyu Nyatur Desa ends with a return to each temple.

Since becoming a pengayah in the village, the ngredag tradition has been practiced in previous years. The interesting fact about this ritual is that there was a gap of many years and approximately in the 2010s it was re-implemented again until now. So for that reason, the Ngredag tradition should be preserved by mankind.
