Sebatu Village is a village located in Tegallalang District, Gianyar Regency and is one of the villages at the northern tip of Gianyar Regency. Sebatu Traditional Village is famous for its traditions. Tradition is a belief or behavior that is passed down from generation to generation.

 

Tradition covers various aspects including language, religion, social habits, music, art and customs. Often in practice, tradition is what is believed to be right or wrong. In Bali traditions have a strong global appeal, known through performing arts, religious ceremonies and the Tri Hita Karana philosophy which provides a spiritual foundation for everyday life. One of them is the Nyacahin or Nyacin tradition in the Sebatu Traditional Village.

The Nyacahin tradition has been carried out for generations in the Sebatu Traditional Village. Where the Nyacahin tradition aims to express gratitude to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa for the blessings bestowed through the harvest obtained by the community. This tradition is carried out once a year in Sebatu Village. This tradition must be carried out and never abandoned. This tradition takes place every sasih Kapitu to Kawulu.

 

And during the 12 days of the Nyacahin implementation, the customs of Sebatu Traditional Village are prohibited from shaving mustaches or beards, cutting hair, cutting nails, and staying outside the Traditional Village area. And also for 12 days, the people of Sebatu village are not allowed to carry out activities called Berata, people are not allowed to pray, or make special offerings or offerings for the nyacahin ceremony. According to the community, taboos are not dared to be violated, because it has been proven that bad things happen when people violate these taboos or prohibitions.

This series of Nyacahin traditions lasts for 12 days, then three days after Nyacahin the Mengsanghyang sanghyang ceremony takes place which is no less unique. After that, on the sixth day, the Muat Emping Ceremony or also called Nyacahin is held which includes a Tegenan offering containing various types of harvest. What is hung on the offerings is fruit, such as oranges, snake fruit, pineapples, bananas and various other fruits according to the ability, as well as the harvest from the community. The harvest results are given over a period of one year, the majority of whom are farmers and still work their land well. The fruits are combined together with various types of snacks, as well as various types of chicken, pork, crab, and many more. This tradition also looks unique, because the 2 offerings are joined together using bamboo.

 

By holding the Nyacahin Tradition, the community hopes that agriculture or plantations can again get better results. Thus, the Nyacahin Tradition is not only a religious ritual or custom, but also reflects the deep relationship between humans and nature. With the hope of bringing blessings and good luck to the agricultural and plantation sectors in the Sebatu Traditional Village.
