The story begins during a war in the Klungkung Kingdom, where Dalem Cili and his followers fled to escape a critical situation. In his escape, Dalem Cili brought 60 Dulang Mangap, a highly significant spiritual symbol at that time. After a long and challenging journey, Dalem Cili and his group finally arrived at a small village, which at the time was known as Timun Belahmanukan Village.
However, their journey did not end there. Dalem Cili continued his travels until he reached a temple then called Pura Dalem Kendengan. In this place, Dalem Cili felt an extraordinary sense of peace and sanctity. He decided to build a larger and grander place of worship. Before realizing his plan, however, he felt the need to seek permission from Ida Bathara, who resided at Pura Batur Gangsia, a sacred temple in the area.
After obtaining permission, Dalem Cili began constructing the place of worship, now known as Pura Batur Kendengan. This temple has become a site not only of high spiritual value but also a symbol of struggle, protection, and hope for the people of Tinggarsari Village.
One of the unique features of Pura Batur Kendengan is a Pelinggih shaped like a throne made from natural stones. This stone is believed to have existed since ancient times and is regarded as a sacred place full of spiritual energy. The Pelinggih is used by the community to seek protection, blessings for leadership, fertility, and prosperity for all village residents and their leaders.
