Pura Batur Gangsia, a sacred temple located in Tinggarsari Village, Busungbiu District, Buleleng Regency, Bali, is one of the most awe-inspiring destinations due to its uniqueness and rich history. As a sacred place of worship for the Hindu community, this temple holds a long-standing story carved into the megalithic stones that form its foundation. Majestically situated atop a hill, the temple exudes an unparalleled spiritual aura, making it a focal point for both tourists and historical researchers.

Pura Batur Gangsia is a sacred site that carries profound spiritual and historical significance. Nestled in a serene area surrounded by beautiful nature, the temple stands as a silent witness to a past filled with stories and local wisdom. The tale begins with Ida Bathara and his nine sacred monkeys, who played an essential role in shaping this holy site. These monkeys, believed to have descended from the mountains, assisted in carrying stones, one by one, which they stacked with great dedication. These stones were eventually piled up to form a sacred mountain, symbolizing the unique structure of Pura Batur Gangsia as it stands today, marked by its distinctive stone formations.

To the west of the area, the monkeys also aspired to create a pasih kecil or a small lake. However, their efforts did not go as planned. The lake's structure collapsed, causing the water to flow swiftly down to the Seririt area. As a result, the envisioned small lake was never realized. Nonetheless, the monkeys did not give up. They continued their work, constructing a pile of stones that eventually reached a height of 350 meters from the riverbed below.

The stones stacked in this area are considered relics from the Megalithic Era, a time when humans began creating large structures for spiritual and cultural purposes. This belief is further reinforced by research conducted by archaeologists, who confirmed that the stones indeed date back to ancient times. Among these stacked stones, a beautiful waterfall flows through the gaps, enhancing the site's natural beauty. This waterfall is not only visually stunning but is also believed to possess strong spiritual energy, often used by the local community for ceremonies and purification rituals.

The discovery of megalithic stones beneath the temple adds a unique allure for researchers and archaeologists. These structures are seen as evidence of an ancient civilization that thrived in Bali before the arrival of Hindu influences. The stones serve not only as the physical foundation of the temple but also as historical pillars that connect the past with the present. Pura Batur Gangsia, with its megalithic stones, acts as a bridge linking us to the legacy of ancestors who once inhabited this sacred land.

Another captivating feature of Pura Batur Gangsia is its strategic location. Perched on a hill, the temple offers spectacular views that stretch as far as the eye can see. This natural beauty enhances the temple's aesthetic value, making it an ideal spot for self-reflection and spiritual retreat. Visitors are not only drawn by the historical allure but also by the tranquility that the surrounding environment provides.

Pura Batur Gangsia has also caught the attention of local authorities, who aim to develop it as a cultural and historical tourism destination. This potential tourism site offers economic benefits for the local community while strengthening Bali's cultural identity on the global stage. By visiting this temple, tourists can gain a deeper understanding of Bali's rich culture and the long history that has shaped it.
