Pura Tirta Sudhamala: A Place of Meditation and Purification in North Bali

Visitors, especially Hindus, usually come to this temple to undergo the melukat ritual, which aims to cleanse themselves of negative influences, eliminate bad luck, and restore inner balance.
The melukat ritual is usually carried out under the temple spring, where water will be splashed all over the body while saying purification prayers. Visitors who want to perform the melukat ritual are required to bring eleven types of flowers along with lotus flowers that must be brought, where later the eleven types of flowers are used to cleanse the body by being rubbed all over the body. For Hindus, water is not only an element of nature, but also a symbol of life and purity. Through water, human beings connect with nature and their spirituality.
Pura Tirta Sudhamala has a deep philosophy that is closely related to the concept of purification and liberation in Hinduism. The name “Sudhamala” itself comes from two words, “su” which means good, and “dhama” which means place or protector.
