Batu Madeg Temple: The Place of Worship for Ida Bhatara Watu Madeg, as the Manifestation of God Vishnu

Batu Madeg Temple is one of the ancient temples located in the sacred area of Besakih, Karangasem Regency, Bali. This Temple is one of the 18 large temples in the Besakih Temple complex, believed to play an important role as a spiritual center for Hindus in Bali. The name "Batu Madeg" is derived from a large stone that stands upright (madeg) in the middle of the temple, which is thought to be a sacred place where the energies of the universe gather. Historically,Batu Madeg Temple is believed to have existed since the early spread of Hinduism in Bali,and has undergone various restoration processes to maintain the purity of its structure and the spiritual aura present. Additionally,Batu Madeg Temple occupies a strategic position within the layout of Besakih Temple as it is connected to the concept of padma bhuana, which encompasses the cardinal directions throughout Bali.
