Located in the Gianyar Regency, Bali, Ubud is a city that is famous for its strong arts and cultural aspects. This city has always been the main destination for both domestic and international tourists when visiting the island of Bali. It is not a surprise we often see this city packed with many tourists upon vacation. 

While traveling, someone will expect to visit something new and different that they cannot often see or encounter in their place of origin. It can be concluded that Ubud is the right choice for traveling because of the historical cultural heritage it has. One of which is Puri Saren Agung Ubud. 

Puri Saren Agung Ubud or commonly known as Ubud Palace is the legacy of the King of Ubud which was built during the reign of Ida Tjokorda Putu Kandel (1800-1823). This place used to be the residence of the King of Ubud since the end of the 19th century. The historic building is located right at the heart of Ubud city, which is correspond with how this building functioned as the government center in the past. 

The mentioned center of governance encompasses all aspects of Ubud's community life; including economic, religious, and governmental affairs. Ida Tjokorda Gde Agung Sukawati played a crucial role in the development of Ubud as a renowned tourist destination up to the present day. He opened doors for artists to cultivate their skills and talents in the art field. Giving rise to many talented painters with astonishing artworks, that now characterize Ubud's identity.

Through that, Ubud began to be recognized as one of the captivating tourist destinations that attracts attention from people around the world. With the presence of Puri Saren Agung Ubud, which not only advances the local economy, but also serves as a reminder of Ubud's own identity.

When entering the entrance gate of Puri Saren Agung Ubud, which has traditional ornate carvings, our eyes will be spoiled by the archway which is located right opposite to where we are standing. This archway also has traditional cultural designs, which complexity is so amazing, that it is used as a favorite photo spot for visitors.

In the archway area, there are also several pavilions which are used as storage for traditional musical instruments, which are used for dance performances that are held on certain days and schedules. Not only that, there are many sculptures carved in such a way that enhances the beauty of this palace. 

After passing through the archway area, the journey can be continued to the area behind the archway. There are several pavilions located in the inner area, each equipped with sculpted statues on the stairs leading to the pavilion. However, it's important to note that all pavilions are not allowed to be climbed or sat on, both in the front and inner areas.

Every area within this palace serves as a subject or backdrop for photos taken by visitors. This is what consistently draws a crowd to the palace at all times, especially considering there is no fee to enjoy the cultural beauty of Bali in this palace. Puri Saren Agung Ubud is the perfect destination to immerse yourself in the traditional Balinese culture, being a historical legacy of the Ubud royal family.
