Dudu, A Natural Escape Along the Yeh Ho River
Have you ever imagined a place where rice fields and a river lined with large rocks come together in a peaceful rural setting, far from the noise of traffic? Dudu offers exactly that kind of experience. Exploring the area means being ready to discover something new at every step, from walking along paths between rice fields and finding a bale bengong where you can take a break, to eventually reaching the clear river flowing through the area. Yet behind its quiet atmosphere, Dudu also holds traces of a local tradition connected to Indonesia’s Independence Day celebrations.
Entering Wisata Dudu feels like stepping away from the noise of everyday routines. The journey to the site is already part of the experience. The access road is relatively wide and smooth, making it easy to reach by both motorcycle and car. Along the way, visitors are welcomed by wide stretches of rice fields. On the side of the road, there are also irrigation channels whose clear flowing water may, at first glance, look like ordinary drainage ditches.
Located in Tista Village, Kerambitan, Tabanan Regency, Dudu offers the fresh atmosphere of the countryside, with little traffic and the sound of birds greeting visitors as soon as they arrive at the grassy parking area. In one corner stands a shaded bale bengong above a fish pond, providing a pleasant place to rest. Right beside it is a simple house occupied by the caretaker of the area. The peaceful atmosphere is immediately noticeable, but the main attraction of Wisata Dudu awaits further below.

As visitors begin descending the steps toward the main river, an unusual sight comes into view. Along the staircase is a clean water channel flowing through the area. During the August 17 Independence Day celebrations, this channel is transformed into a fishing competition area for local residents. It is an interesting example of how the community continues to use the natural spaces around them while maintaining a sense of togetherness during an important national celebration.
After passing the stairs and the water channel, the journey continues along a fairly long pathway. Step by step, visitors will reach an open area where they can stop and rest.

The facilities in this area are quite adequate for a destination surrounded by nature. There is a semi-open dining area with bamboo elements, accompanied by a row of bale bengong. The space is suitable for visitors who simply want to sit, enjoy the view toward the river, and feel the cool breeze. Nearby, several large swings are also available. They can be used for recreation or simply as a spot to take photos.
Walking a little farther inward, the sound of running water becomes more noticeable, leading visitors toward another part of Dudu. There, a clear river flows between large rocks scattered along the riverbed.
The large rocks are one of the most noticeable features of this part of the area. Their surfaces appear relatively smooth, making some of them suitable for sitting or dipping your feet into the water. The cool water adds to the experience of being close to the river, while the sound of the current flowing between the rocks creates a calm atmosphere.
The natural surroundings become even more apparent with trees and wild plants growing along the riverbanks. Interestingly, this greenery blends with the rice fields located not far from the river. If you are lucky, you may see local farmers tending to their fields. The presence of farmland and agricultural activity keeps the tourist area closely connected to the everyday life of the local community. Visitors can observe not only the scenery of the rice fields but also the activities taking place there.
There is little traffic around the area, allowing the sounds of birds and flowing water to be heard more clearly. Morning or late afternoon can be comfortable times to visit, when the air is cooler and the sunlight is not as intense. The area is also suitable for spending time with family, gathering with friends, or simply enjoying some quiet time alone.

Interestingly, the river flowing through Wisata Dudu is actually part of Tukad Yeh Ho, a major river that runs through the Tabanan area. Walking through the different corners of Dudu offers a unique experience of seeing how nature and village life can exist side by side in harmony. The charm of this place shows that a sense of tranquility can often be found in the simplicity of nature, tucked away in the quiet corners of a lush village.
