At Pura Dalem Mengening, there are three shrines for worship: the shrine of Ida Bhatara Hyang Mangening, the shrine of Ida Bhatara Hyang Semeru, and the shrine of Ida Bhatara Hyang Pedanda Saktu Bahu Rauh.

Pura Dalem Mengening has a unique history related to the spiritual experiences of Ida Bhawati Satya Dharma, the temple's caretaker. Initially, Ida Bhawati and her family suffered from illness until she received guidance from Ida Sesuhunan Ring Semeru, leading to their healing. As an expression of gratitude, she restored the temple, which is also known as Pura Dalem Mengening Lan Penghayatan Bhatara Semeru. This name was derived because there are shrines for worshipping Ida Bhatara Hyang Mangening, Ida Bhatara Hyang Semeru, and Ida Bhatara Hyang Pedanda Saktu Bahu Rauh.

One of the temple's unique features is the spring used for the melukat ritual. This spring never runs dry, even during the dry season, and the holy water here is believed to have purifying properties for the mind, soul, and body. It is also thought to neutralize negative energy, both seen and unseen, and provide protection against black magic or other negative energies.

According to Ida Bhawati's experiences, melukat at this temple not only heals physical and spiritual ailments but is also believed to enhance prosperity and success. Some visitors have reported that after using the holy water from this spring, their previously stagnant businesses have flourished once again.

The melukat process at Pura Dalem Mengening involves preparing offerings, usually in the form of pejati. However, those unable to bring pejati can simply offer canang sari or recite prayers. After melukat, worshippers can continue with regular prayers and request tirta, which can also be taken home for daily use.

In addition to the well-known melukat ritual, the temple frequently hosts the piodalan ceremony, celebrated on every fourth full moon (Purnama Sasih Kapat). This tradition highlights the significant role Pura Dalem Mengening plays in the spiritual and ecological balance of the Hindu community.
